Associations between active travel to work and overweight, hypertension, and diabetes in India: A cross-sectional study

Active travel (walking, bicycling, and use of public transport) is increasingly being promoted as an integral component of strategies to increase physical activity levels and address the growing burden of obesity and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) globally [1],[2]. The Action Plan of the World Health Organization’s (WHO’s) Global Strategy for the Prevention and Control of NCDs urges member states to “introduce transport policies that promote active and safe methods of travelling to and from schools and workplaces” and to “ensure that physical environments support safe active commuting.”
