Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) is one of the most common genital pathogens worldwide [1]. Strategies to screen, test, diagnose and treat this curable, yet prevalent and indolent disease have been adopted in many countries. Disease in women can include severe outcomes such as pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility. In addition, neonates of infected women may have increased morbidity and mortality.
