New colorectal cancer screening guidance based on review of multiple guidelines

A comprehensive review of several medical groups’ guidelines for colorectal screening has resulted in a new guidance statement that includes a number of useful recommendations.

In searching the National Guidelines Clearinghouse developed in the United States, the American College of Physicians (ACP) found and evaluated 4 existing U.S. guidelines on colorectal cancer screening, in addition to a 2009 guideline from the American College of Gastroenterology. Based on these evaluations, the ACP issued its recommendations.
